Ronda Rousey was unable to compete in her planned tag team match alongside Shayna Baszler against Natalya and Tegan Nox on this week’s SmackDown.
The reason for Rousey’s absence was due to her aggravating an injury to her arm, which prevented her from wrestling on the show.
Rousey is reportedly set to team with Shayna Baszler to challenge for the Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania, which are currently held by Becky Lynch and Lita.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez noted that Ronda’s injury was re-aggravated, but she should be back soon.
Meltzer then noted that the hope is that she will be cleared for WrestleMania, as her and Shayna are reportedly set to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship at the event.
They said:
“She re-aggravated a previous non-serious injury and she should be back soon.
“From what I understand, she’s limited [and] probably will be out and exactly how much she will be recovered by, when she’s wrestling again, is unknown.
“But the hope is that they will still win the tag team titles at WrestleMania. That was the original idea. That’s still the hope.”
Rousey reportedly pitched for her and Shayna to win the Tag Team titles at WrestleMania, which led to her dropping the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Charlotte Flair last year.
