Starrcade ’18, the souped up house-show from Cincinnati, Ohio that takes place next weekend (November 24) will air in part on the WWE Network on November 25.
A one hour “Starrcade 2018 special” is scheduled for 8pm ET (1am BST) the day after the event, which is expected to be the entire show in highlight form or some of the top matches in their entirety.
Many speculated that last year’s Starrcade, which marked the first time WWE had used the name since purchasing the IP as part of the WCW buyout in 2001, would air on the Network. Although the cameras were there the show never made it to broadcast.
The move to air at least some of the card is in keeping with WWE’s new business strategy going forward with the WWE Network of airing house shows in major markets on the platform at weekends.
It was expected that this would not be implemented until a pricing restructure expected in early 2019 so this could well be WWE testing the waters to see what interest there is in the event.
