Starz Wrestling Drama Heels Season 2 Gets Premiere Date

Starz Wrestling Drama Heels Season 2 Gets Premiere Date Starz

The Starz wrestling drama Heels led by Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig has finally got a season 2 premiere date.

The series, which revolves around the Spade brothers Jack (Amell) and Ace (Ludwig) as they fight over their late father’s wrestling company and national attention for their Georgia based promotion.

Season one aired between August and October 2021 and was met with positive reviews with fans eager for season 2.

Entertainment Weekly has now confirmed that season 2 will premiere on Friday, July 28.

Season 2 will see Jack trying to earn his brother’s forgiveness as well as convince his wife that he’s going to put his family first, all while he fights off a challenge from a rival promoter trying to put him out of business.

Mike O’Malley, the showrunner and actor behind the Charlie Gully character, revealed that production was completed in July 2022 and post-production finished in January 2023.

The post-production period was extensive due to the visual effects involved in the series, with O’Malley noting how much “time and thought” Starz has put in.

O’Malley would also note that Starz felt that a summer release for the season was the best thing for the show.

Stephen Amell has been a long-time wrestling fan and first competed at WWE SummerSlam in 2015, teaming with PAC (then Neville) to defeat Wade Barrett (King Barrett, at the time) and Stardust (Cody Rhodes).

He would also join Bullet Club (Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and Matt & Nick Jackson) to defeat the team of Flip Gordon, Scorpio Sky and The Addiction (Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian) at ROH Survival of the Fittest in 2017.

His last match was in 2017 at ALL IN, facing Christopher Daniels in a losing effort.

A long-time friend of Cody Rhodes, Amell was in attendance to support the star at WWE Royal Rumble in January 2023.

Although he hasn’t stepped into the wrestling ring since (outside of Heels), he has previously commented on wanting a match with AJ Styles or Darby Allin.
