Statistics show that there was more interest in the November 13 AEW Full Gear show than the November 21 WWE Survivor Series.
The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter compared the Google searches for both shows as a gauge of general US interest levels.
Full Gear actually ended up 7.5% ahead of Survivor Series overall, which is the second time in a row that an AEW pay-per-view beat a WWE ‘big four’ pay-per-view when they’ve been held around the same time.
One notable region that AEW beat Survivor Series in was New York, which Dave Meltzer described as “huge” because Survivor Series actually took place in New York.
The search volume split for New York was 52% for Full Gear and 48% for Survivor Series, so it was close, but Full Gear won.
Both companies had some regions they dominated in. The full region-by-region breakdown can be found in this week’s Observer Newsletter.
