Here’s the latest news regarding the status of the NXT Championship with its current reigning champion Finn Balor sidelined due to injury.
Balor has had surgery on a broken jaw which was fractured in two places during his title defence against Kyle O’Reilly at TakeOver 31, but it’s unknown exactly how long it’ll take for him to recover.
Fightful Select is reporting that there have been ideas discussed backstage for a ‘worst case scenario’ situation which would be having to strip Balor of the title.
However, because Karrion Kross also had to relinquish the title due to injury right before Balor won it, doing the same thing again is something that management is keen to avoid.
On-screen NXT General Manager William Regal appeared on the show this past Wednesday and said that he will simply see how Balor’s recovery goes, which is the same as what’s happening in reality.
We at WrestleTalk.com continue to send Balor our best wishes regarding his recovery and we’ll keep you updated with any further developments on the situation.
