Stephanie McMahon Meeting With TV Networks Amid Falling WWE Ratings

Just a few years ago, the idea of both Raw and SmackDown averaging fewer than 2 million in TV audiences was unthinkable. Unfortunately it is now a reality, and it seems the TV networks are beginning to lose patience.

According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Podcast, Stephanie McMahon is set for a meeting with an un-named TV network this month to discuss falling ratings and potential ideas on how to turn them around.

Zarian said:

“I don’t know which network it was but somebody told me that Steph has a meeting with one of the networks at the end of the month for pitched ideas from the network. I don’t know if this is a common thing that they do or if this is a regular thing but I know that the networks are pitching ideas.”

When SmackDown debuted on FOX, it was reported that the network had a goal of around 3 million viewers a week, but last week’s episode of SmackDown was viewed by fewer than 2 million on average.

Let’s just hope the TV networks actually know about wrestling, or we’re just going to get 52 weeks of WWE Legends Night every year.
