Stephanie McMahon makes wild claim about WWE’s success

Stephanie McMahon recently claimed that the reason for WWE’s success was because “we listened to our audience.” Either she is intentionally trolling fans or it is a sign of complete delusion.

Stephanie was speaking at the Sports Business Journal’s Game Changers conference, discussing female equality in sports.

Of course, WWE are notorious for doing exactly the opposite of that, as the recent plight of Becky Lynch, the never-ending push of Roman Reigns and the Daniel Bryan storyline arc have all proven in recent years.

Predictably, WWE fans were not shy about voicing their opinions on the matter:

These are just a small sample of the responses that reporter Katie Rosenberg received after tweeting the quote. Rosenberg was left with no choice to respond, writing:

“So apparently the WWE fans feel differently, as evidenced by the 70+ comments I woke up to this morning.”

Dave Meltzer weighed in on the matter in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:

“Every writer I’ve ever spoken to, and most people who have run creative, have always said either these words or something approximating them, that the show is written for “the audience of one,” which is Vince McMahon”
