Stephanie McMahon has recalled her first WWE storyline with The Undertaker in 1999, as well as her relationship with “The Deadman.”

Ahead of her induction into the 2026 WWE Hall of Fame, Stephanie McMahon was interviewed by her husband Triple H for a special episode of her What’s Your Story? With Steph McMahon podcast.

During the show McMahon was asked to recall when she was first approached to be an on-screen talent in the company, with the former C0-CEO of WWE revisiting the 1999 angle which saw her abducted by The Undertaker and the Corporate Ministry.

McMahon said:

“I always worked in the business, I interned when I was younger, when I graduated college finally I was lucky because I always knew what I wanted to do and I had the opportunity to do it.

“I was in a very unique sort of shadowing position, observing and working with my dad, being a gopher also. We were just talking about different angles and I believe it was the Corporate Ministry angle, and their needed to be a way to get some kind of sympathy for Vince because it was so hard to feel bad for him.

“So they came up with this storyline that I was getting abducted, not kidnapped, abducted, because semantics matter as we all know. That was really how it started. Then they lit the teddy bear on fire, which was kind of real because I did have a blue teddy bear that looked just like that.”

McMahon then opened up about her relationship with The Undertaker, when discussing his famous ‘Where to Stephanie?’ line during the angle:

“There was a scene where we were all running and getting into a limousine, there was the, ‘Where to Stephanie?’ With Taker, which was one of my favorites.

“Mark has really been a big brother to me, it’s always been that kind of relationship and I love him to death, no pun intended.”

Further discussing her path to WWE, McMahon said she never wanted to do anything other than work for the company, but she never thought she’d become a performer.

She said:

“Never anything else. This is the best business in the world and you can do anything. Marketing, production, merchandise, live events, media and then you get to the executive level, everything you learn there and get the opportunity to do.

“And then to actually get the chance to perform, which I never thought was in the cards for me, but I always loved to perform but I never thought of me as a wrestler. So to have had all of this, this is my world, WWE is my actual world and always has been.”
