Stephanie McMahon has let brand partners interested in sponsorship know during today’s Q4 earnings call that the WWE Universe themselves are open for the advertising business.
Sponsored partnerships such as Pizza Hut’s integration at Survivor Series are set to be expanded per Stephanie McMahon who noted that the company is transitioning from contractual to transactional partnerships for sponsorship.
Stephanie said:
“In Q4, at Survivor Series, this creativity was on full display for 2 brands. Pizza Hut trended during the night as the Street Profits made their entrance to the ring, carrying a box of piping hot Pizza Hut pizza… During the match, the audience actually started to chant, ‘We want pizza!’ which is not something we can ever guarantee a partner, but a demonstration of how successful integrations can be when they are done with a fan mindset.
“This was complemented with another first-of-its-kind integration involving the presenting partner of Survivor Series, Netflix. Netflix returned to WWE to promote 1 of their biggest movies of the year, Red Notice, starting none other than WWE Hall of Famer, The Rock. A storyline loosely mirroring the films plot involving our Chairman and CEO, who plays the character of Mr. McMahon.
The brand partnership which saw tables of Pizza Hut set up at the entrance ramp and the Street Profits carrying specifically Pizza Hut’s Triple Treat box in their entrance for the 25 man battle royal match also saw random competitors taste the pizza despite actively wrestling in a match between bites.
Also noted by Stephanie in positive terms was the Netflix partnership to promote The Rock’s film, Red Notice via storyline mirroring the plot of the film running throughout the event with the WWE Chairman appearing as “the character of Mr. McMahon.”
