WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer has revealed that she almost stopped using a popular move after joining the company.
With Stephanie Vaquer having a variety of moves in her arsenal, the current champion has revealed that she was originally planning to drop one when preparing to debut on NXT in 2024.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Vaquer revealed that she planned to stop doing the Devil’s Kiss once joining WWE.
Explaining that the NXT coaches advised her to continue using it, and Booker T helped her to fall in love with it again, Vaquer said:
“You know what? Before WWE, I did that move for a long time. When I did that move before WWE, it was a little different than now. When I signed with WWE, I think, ‘Okay, I want to stop doing that move for many reasons. I think sometimes people take that move different ways, and I don’t like that.’
“In NXT one day, we were training, and I showed that move, and the coach is saying, ‘No, that’s good, people know that move and people like that move.’
“I’m thinking, ‘Yeah, but I don’t know why I don’t like it anymore. I don’t want to do that move because I hate what people say, ‘It’s just because of that move,’ and people can’t sometimes understand that move.
“I started to do it again, and I feel good because Booker T made that move so people love this move, so I’m starting to love this move again, because Booker T made me feel like that.”
Other stars in WWE used similar maneuver to the Devil’s Kiss before Vaquer arrived in WWE, including Charlotte Flair.
Booker T played a big role in getting that move over in NXT, with fans still replicating how he’d react upon seeing the move, to this day.
With the role of the commentators to enhance the product, Booker T has certainly enhanced many stars’ presences over the years, with Vaquer and Trick Williams being the two who many associate with hearing the Hall of Famer.
With Queen Sharmell also having no problem with her husband Booker T’s wild commentary moments, we will likely see many more stars enhanced by the Hall of Famer’s calls from ringside for years to come.
