Steve Austin is one of the biggest stars in the history of wrestling but that doesn’t mean he is above giving a call to those he cares about. Such was the case this year when ‘Stone Cold’ gave Renee Young a call while she had COVID-19.
Young recently penned an open letter to WWE where she thanked many of the people who helped her during her tenure. One of the people she mentioned was this Steve Austin. Here is her story of Austin checking in on her:
“Like — earlier this year, I got sick with COVID. And I’m lying there in bed, just sort of like, UGH. BLAH. BLECH. Everything sucks. I feel terrible. And then suddenly my phone rings. And I reach over and grab it, and look at it. And on the caller name it just says:
STEVE AUSTIN
And I’m just like in this COVID daze, still, you know, so I’m only like halfway there. But I pick it up. And I’m like, ‘Umm….. hello, Mr….. sir?’
‘HEY KID, IT’S STEVE HERE. JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE YOU’RE ALRIGHT. WANTED TO CALL ABOUT WHAT YOUR SYMPTOMS ARE LIKE, SEE WHAT’S WHAT. KNOW YOU’RE STAYING TOUGH.’
Oh, right, OK, for sure. It’s just Stone Cold Steve Austin — checking in. He wants to see how my COVID is doing.
Totally normal!!”
The rest of Young’s open letter was spent thanking people in WWE. Those names included Vince and Stephanie McMahon, Triple H, Corey Graves, and others. We must recommend you check out the full letter as it is quite touching.
