A nixed pitch has emerged for a different role that Stone Cold Steve Austin could have played at WWE WrestleMania 41 in April.

The WWE Hall of Famer was in attendance for the April 19 & 20 Premium Live Event, but could have been involved in a different capacity.

With Steve Austin announcing the attendance and greeting the fans at the Allegiant Stadium, his role may well be best remembered for an unfortunate incident aboard his ATV.

The WWE Unreal series has now revealed that he could have had a different role at the show, though.

During a segment in the WWE writers’ room, a whiteboard can be seen showing plans for WrestleMania 41.

Among the early plans for the two-night show, Stone Cold Steve Austin is listed as the guest referee for Bron Breakker vs. Drew McIntyre, as can be seen below this news story.

That match wouldn’t end up happening, with both current WWE stars having different opponents on Night 2 of the two-night event.

Drew McIntyre would defeat Damian Priest in a Sin City Street Fight on April 20.

Bron Breakker would lose the WWE Intercontinental Championship to Dominik Mysterio in a Fatal Four-way match also featuring Finn Balor and Penta.
