‘The Icon’ Sting made a return appearance during the main event of tonight’s October 18 AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view.
The final match of the show was an “I Quit” match between Jon Moxley and Darby Allin.
Predictably, the match saw interference from the Death Riders – Marina Shafir, Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, Pac and Claudio Castagnoli – in an attempt to help Moxley.
The Death Riders had brought a fish tank into the ring with them and filled it up with water.
Moxley then proceeded to attempt to hold Allin’s head under the water in an attempt to get him to quit, but Allin didn’t give up.
Then, the lights in the arena went out, and when they came back on, Sting was in the ring.
With his trusty baseball bat, Sting took out the Death Riders and smashed up the fish tank before carrying Shafir to the back.
This paved the way for Allin to finally get Moxley one-on-one, and he was able to use Sting’s signature Scorpion Death Lock to make Moxley give up and score the win.
Sting officially retired from in-ring competition as AEW World Tag Team Champion alongside Allin at Revolution in March 2024.
He has made a couple of appearances since then to back up Allin in big matches.
