Stone Cold Steve Austin Addresses Potential WWE In-Ring Return WWE

Three years on from his last WWE match, Stone Cold Steve Austin has addressed a potential in-ring return.

In 2022, Stone Cold Steve Austin made one of the most unlikely in-ring returns in WWE history when he competed against Kevin Owens in the main event of WrestleMania 38 Night One – his first match since the same event 19 years prior.

In the years since Austin’s match with Owens fans have speculated whether we’d see the Texas Rattlesnake once again compete in WWE, particularly around WrestleMania season.

Ahead of this year’s Grandest Stage of Them All, Austin appeared at The Pat McAfee Show in Las Vegas and was asked by McAfee whether he had any desire to get back into a WWE ring, to which Austin answered:

“I don’t think about anything like that. I’ve kind of moved on down the road. Don’t get me wrong, the competitive side of me, which transfers into the racing I’m doing now, I want to be the best at everything I do.

“You still go back and watch these guys and gals in the ring in WWE and you think, ‘I could’ve given Kevin Owens a little bit more than what I had.’ Sometimes you think about it, but the time right now for the people in the ring, it’s for the younger generation. It’s for the men and women on the road. I leave it to them.

“They’ve taken it to a great place and business has grown to something that I never would have imagined. Don’t get wrong, I can still whoop some ass, but I’m not looking to get back in the ring at any time in the future because these young cats need something to shoot for.

“Stone Cold don’t need to beat nobody’s ass anymore. That’s the bottom line because I said so.”

While it remains unclear whether Austin will return to the ring in WWE, he will make an appearance at tonight’s 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas, with he and Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart’s WrestleMania 13 match being inducted into this year’s class as an ‘Immortal Moment’.
