The first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is nearly over with Street Profits, Authors of Pain and SAnitY advancing so far. One spot remains, however, and a semi-finals bout between Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate and Trent Severn) and Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan was set to decide the last team to advance in the tournament.
The recent news of Tyler Bate’s injury has seen himself and Trent Severn withdraw from the tournament leaving a vacant spot. The seemingly omnipresent Roderick Strong expressed his desire to compete in the tournament with a partner of his choosing in a video on his Twitter.

NXT‘s General Manager William Regal responded with a video of his own where he granted Strong entry into the prestigious tournament. Fans will find out who Strong’s partner will be this coming Wednesday on NXT as the final match of the first round takes place.
.@RoderickStrong, after much deliberation, I am going to grant you the opportunity to replace Moustache Mountain with a partner of your choosing. I trust you will seize this opportunity. See you Wednesday. https://t.co/Y28cnX9dya

Strong is coming off the back of a loss to Cedric Alexander in what was an incredible semi-finals bout for the vacant WWE Cruiserweight Championship. With another opportunity at gold on the horizon, Strong will be hoping to advance further in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
