The AEW Women’s Eliminator Tournament has seen some truly fantastic matches so far. The Japanese side of the tournament has featured a number of new stars, wrestling for AEW for the first time. Now, we know who was behind the Japanese matches.
Kenny Omega recently spoke with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT where he revealed that AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida put together the Japanese matches. Here is the quote:
“I enjoyed every minute of it. Every match had something unique to offer and I couldn’t have been more proud of them and couldn’t have been more proud of Hikaru Shida, actually.
She really went the extra mile and put it all together herself in Japan. These things don’t happen out of thin air. She really wanted to feature the women wrestlers more, the girls stuck in Japan and feature some of the women that she has worked with when she was doing freelance work.”
The winner of the tournament will face Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women’s Championship at AEW Revolution.
