Survivor Series format to change?

According to WrestleVotesthe concept of Raw vs. SmackDown for Survivor Series has been taken out back and driven to a farm in the country where nobody can visit it.

It probably seems like a good idea on paper. WWE has two separate brands, Survivor Series uses two teams facing off. Why wouldn’t people want to see the one time a year that the Raw and SmackDown rosters do battle?

Likely because it’s an old trope that only felt effective once or twice since the show started. Usually, there is no believable conflict. The rivalry between Raw and SmackDown is an afterthought these days.

While the overall theme of brand vs brand has seemingly been dropped, some matchups could remain cross-branded.

One intriguing piece of information from the tweet is that Survivor Series will see a battle for control of Raw between Team Angle and Team Corbin. Each man is likely to lead his own team, creating at least some stakes for this year’s Thanksgiving classic.

Survivor Series is coming upon us sooner than perhaps we think – the show is just over a month away. In fairness, there’s a lot to focus on between now and then, with three pay-per-views (Super Showdown, Crown Jewel and Evolution) and SmackDown 1000 to get through before Survivor Series becomes the focus.

We should expect to see the show’s build to start weaving its way through the gauntlet of pay per views before then.

What do you think? Will you miss the SmackDown vs Raw format? Let us know in the comments!
