Suspended AEW Stars Return, Triple H/CM Punk Update, 14-Year WWE PPV Canceled – News Bulletin – October 27, 2022 AEW

Suspended AEW stars are returning, an update on Triple H’s stance about a potential CM Punk return, a 14-Year WWE PPV canceled, and more.

It is Thursday morning, and you know what that means, it’s time for a round-up of all the latest wrestling news to get you up to speed on October 27, 2022.

Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks Return To AEW

Last night, the October 26 edition of AEW Dynamite took place and a mysterious vignette seemed to suggest that The Elite will be returning to AEW soon. Kenny Omega, Matt and Nick Jackson have not been seen on AEW since the infamous AEW All Out backstage brawl.

AEW aired a clip during Dynamite that included a montage of highlights of Omega’s and The Young Buck’s time at AEW so far, with each image burning into another with a fiery graphic. Is this paving the way for a phoenix rising from the ashes moment?

Throwing further fuel on the fire, PWInsider also reported that all three were in attendance backstage.  Read the full story and watch the clip right here.

The Elite celebrate winning the AEW Trios Championship

The last time Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks appeared live for AEW was at All Out when they became the inaugural AEW World Trios Champions

Elsewhere on the show, Blackpool Combat Club’s Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli took on and defeated Chris Jericho and Daniel Garcia, with William Regal overseeing it all on commentary.

A match-up took place to determine the #1 contenders for the AEW World Tag Team championships. Swerve in our Glory beat FTR to gain the opportunity. There was plenty of commotion ringside as The Gunns were front row to heckle FTR and ultimately assist Swerve in Our Glory in their victory. The Acclaimed swooped in to save FTR at the end while the Gunns got the hell out of dodge.

In a backstage segment with Renee Paquette, MJF said he would not use his Dynamite Diamond Ring against Moxley in their title match at Full Gear. Further, he told Stokely Hathaway to prevent The Firm from interfering in the match in another gesture showing that MJF wishes to heed Regal’s advice and have a clean win.

William Regal angry at MJF

After being berated by William Regal, MJF has promised he won’t cheat to win the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley at Full Gear

Bryan Danielson took on and defeated Sammy Guevara with a triangle in the closing moments.

Jamie Hayter beat Riho by pinfall. A future angle was set up as Toni Storm came out to the ring, holding up her interim Women’s title, setting up a future championship match of Storm vs Hayter.

Moxley defended and retained his title against Penta El Zero Mieldo. The Firm came out and attacked Moxley against MJF’s wishes. When MJF told them to stop, they turned on him in a brutal beatdown that included the self-proclaimed Devil taking a chokeslam through the timekeeper’s table.

Triple H Current Stance On CM Punk Revealed

Since recent news that AEW is winding down investigation proceedings and are reportedly trying to buy CM Punk out of the remainder of his contract, Triple H’s current stance on CM Punk has been revealed.

Previously, Paul Levesque (Triple H) was said to have wanted “nothing to do with him” when speaking about it around the time of Triple H’s takeover in July 2022.

Triple H and CM Punk have a staredown

During their time together in WWE, CM Punk once told Triple H backstage that Punk didn’t need to work with Triple H, but Triple H needed to work with Punk

Now, Wrestlevotes reports in an exclusive to GiveMeSport, that Levesque’s sentiment has ‘softened’ over the last few days.

Reportedly, Triple H has taken a leaf out of Vince McMahon’s playbook and, even though there is animosity, he has learned to make amends with everyone, CM Punk apparently included. You can read the full story right here.

14-Year WWE PPV Canceled

WWE has cancelled a major pay-per-view that has been a part of its schedule for 14 years. In more Triple H news, the Chief Content Officer considers the Hell in a Cell premium live event to be ‘completely dead,’ according to Wrestlevotes who were speaking to  GiveMeSport.

This may be surprising, since Triple H has had some brutal Hell in a Cell matches, including against Cactus Jack at No Way Out in 2000. Notably, since 2009 however, the Hell in Cell bouts have been held exclusively at the Hell in a Cell annual premium-live event.

The 2022 Hell in a Cell event a few months ago played host to Cody Rhodes’ legendary performance with a torn pec

This recent update is consistent with previous reports that the new regime under Levesque was keen to get rid of ‘gimmicky’ events.

Hell in a Cell matches will therefore not be eradicated completely, but will take place when relevant rather than being booked for a specific annual event. Read more about this story right here.

Two wrestlers who were rumored to be members of Bray Wyatt’s teased faction might have been ruled out. Vincent and Dutch of former ROH tag team The Righteous have consistently cropped up as potential names joining the faction. The two have recently been announced for a show on November 27 for independent promotion Mother Lode Wrestling Club. With an independent match scheduled late next month, this may rule out their availability for a potential WWE debut.
