Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland has called for everyone to “pay attention” to rising stars Lee Johnson and EJ Nduka.
In the buildup to his return at AEW WrestleDream, Swerve Strickland was seen training with EJ Nduka in a hype video package. Over this past summer, Nduka has become aligned with Lee Johnson on Ring of Honor television.
Appearing on the No Contest Wrestling Podcast with O’Shea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jefferson, Swerve Strickland praised Lee Johnson and EJ Nduka. Telling fans to keep an eye on both men, Swerve said:
“Shoutout EJ Nduka. He has a lot to offer. He is hungry. He has a lot ‘I want to prove to the world.’ Not to anybody specific, just, ‘I want to prove it to the world.’”
“He knows how good he can be and what he can offer. I see it in him. I talk to him, have these conversations, and he’s dedicated.”
“Week in and week out. Day in and day out, he’s on it. Whether training or in the ring, he’s training and working on it. Pay attention to him and Lee Johnson.”
“They are doing their thing. The fanbase, if you have guys that you like and are your favorites, watch them. Don’t wait for them to get on TV to watch.”
“Watch them where they are at now and help push them to where you want them to go. Go watch them in Ring of Honor. You can be responsible for that. [The fans] were responsible for me getting my opportunities.”
“Watch them where they are at and help push them and catapult them. The fanbase does that.”
Swerve Strickland is set to face Shelton Benjamin on the October 30 edition of AEW Dynamite from Cleveland, Ohio.
