Swerve Strickland Comments On His Similarity With AEW Rival Hangman Page AEW

Over a month removed from their last encounter, Swerve Strickland has commented on similarities between himself and bitter AEW rival Hangman Page.

At AEW All Out 2024 Hangman Page finally secured a victory over Swerve Strickland after almost a year of feuding, brutally rubber stamping their program together inside a steel cage.

Now that both Strickland and Hangman have moved on to new things in AEW for now, Strickland has done some reflecting via the No Contest Wrestling podcast.

Strickland spoke on two pivotal moments in the feud, that being his invasion of Hangman’s home and later Hangman burning Strickland’s childhood property to the ground – using it as an example of how the two share similarities in what is sentimental to them.

Strickland explained:

“It was a Slinky Effect. It was a… That moment made me a big like brought me up here. And then, my success brought Hangman up again. And now, Hangman’s back up in here and he’s tearing through again and that’s what you want to do.

“Like the Slinky, you propel each other up by their actions. I don’t never just do an action just for that action alone. There has to… What’s leading and, ‘Okay, here’s the reaction, how do you react… How would we react to that?’ What’s something that’s sentimental to me?

“The Swerve character. Even all that horrible diabolical stuff that I’ve done, there’s still a human in there that still has sentiment and values. And now, Hangman, it took a while, but Hangman found it. And it was my home. Me buying back the home with my success.

“My success, it brought something else out of Hangman to take that away from me. And now it brings me back into here. It brings me back. Now, what’s sentimental, what was sentimental is fubby because it’s like, the sentimental thing with Hangman was his family, his home, and now we are very similar.

“Because the sentimental thing for me was my family and my home. Me doing a gesture for my family at home. So, we’re very similar. But we are very opposite at the same time.”

Following his loss to Hangman at All Out, Strickland made his return in front of his hometown of Tacoma, WA at WrestleDream, beginning a feud with MVP and Shelton Benjamin.
