New SmackDown tag team Tegan Nox and Shotzi (Blackheart) have spoken about their seemingly surprising move to the WWE main roster.
The duo had worked dark matches at main roster TV tapings prior to their official SmackDown TV debut which came on July 9.
The timing of this seemed very out of nowhere as Shotzi was comfortably in a tag team with Ember Moon in NXT, and Nox had only just returned to TV after almost a year out injured to reignite her feud with Candice LeRae.
Speaking with talkSPORT about the surprising nature of the call-up, Nox said:
“It was a bit of a sudden change, to be honest. On the Tuesday I was taking the stuff to Candice and having them lose the titles and then Friday, after our match on SmackDown, they’re like, ‘Hey, congratulations, you’re on SmackDown now’, like whaaaaat. We had no prior indication that we were moving up. We had no idea. It’s been completely non-stop since (that) Friday.”
Shotzi added:
“It happened so fast. We found out the day of, basically. The day that we debuted is the day we found out we were getting called up so it’s been a wild, fast-paced journey.”
Shotzi has also responded to Chris Jericho and the fallout from the GIF she posted after his fall from the cage at AEW Blood & Guts, which you can read about at this link.
