The relaunch of WOW: Women of Wrestling was announced last year, with the company hiring AJ Mendez (Lee) as an executive producer, and former IMPACT World Champion Tessa Blanchard as the top star.
Well, it appears as though Blanchard may not be a part of the relaunch after all, as Fightful Select (subscription required) is reporting that sources from WOW that work in a talent capacity, have informed Fightful of allegations of issues surrounding Tessa Blanchard and WOW, after the brand looked to serve as a rehabilitation project for her.
After Blanchard deactivated her social media, Fightful was told by WOW sources that there has been a fallout between the two sides. Her status for this week’s WOW tapings is not known, but that will likely give an idea into her future with the company.
One source alleges that, in a class in mid-April, Blanchard cut a promo on Samantha Sage, who is known as Americana, in which Blanchard ‘tore apart’ Sage, leading to many trainees speaking up. Per the source, acting classes were canceled from that point until further notice. At least one trainee was told that Blanchard would be less involved moving forward, but that has not been confirmed.
Another source indicated that Blanchard is no longer in charge of the training of the talent, and that Selina Majors has been brought back in to take over moving forward. Another anonymous source said ‘If you are a fan of Tessa, you’d better learn Spanish,’ implying that she would have to work in Mexico.
Tessa Blanchard has only wrestled a single match in the last two years, which was so she could drop the Warrior Wrestling Title to Kylie Rae in the fall of 2020.
One former WOW star speculated as far as saying that they believe Tessa is gone from the company, but that has not been confirmed.
