On AEW Dynamite, The Acclaimed were informed they were banned from saying ‘Scissor Me’ or any other iteration of the popular catch phrase!
On tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite, Billy Gunn took on Swerve Strickland after a big entrance with the Acclaimed.
While Gunn ultimately lost the bout, the Acclaimed still arrived at ringside post-match to do their typical scissoring celebration when they were interrupted by Smart Mark Sterling and Tony Nese.
In similar fashion to his announcement to the Varsity Blonds, the informed the Acclaimed that he had trademarked the phrase, ‘Scissor Me’ and therefore they could no longer use it.
Not only that, they could not use the phrase “Scissor Me” nor could they do the scissoring hand motion that Tony Khan described as a good way to greet somebody.
Additionally, any profits from The Acclaimed’s merch featuring the “Scissor Me” catchphrase would now go to Smart Mark Sterling!
While the Acclaimed considered just going forward with the scissoring despite the protests, after Sterling threatened actual litigation, they relented.
