WWE Hall of Famer The Great Khali is a national hero in India, but he has taken a next step in helping his country by entering politics.
Khali, real name Dalip Singh Rana, has joined India’s Bharatiya Janata Party, vowing to help the country progress.
The seven-foot giant will be working with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Khali released a statement to The Sun saying:
I have wrestled all over the world. If I just loved money and fame, then I would have stayed in the United States and in the WWE.
However, I have always loved my country. I was also impressed by all the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
So I told myself that even I should join him and help the country progress. I am a fan of his hard work and thinking.
BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde tweeted his approval of the WWE Hall of Famer joining the party, saying:
I warm heartedly welcome Shri Dalip Singh Rana ‘The Great Khali’ to BJP. His inspiration is drawn by Modi Ji’s vision for a new India and his willingness to work for nation’s growth is the guiding principle of BJP.
