Matt Hardy has commented following The Hardy Boyz’s loss of their NXT Tag Team Championships at WWE Halloween Havoc 2025, as well as their tribute to the late Bray Wyatt at the event.
In what was their first title defense on WWE television since capturing the NXT Tag Titles at WWE NXT Showdown on October 7, Matt and Jeff Hardy faced off with the team they beat for the gold three weeks ago: Darkstate.
In what was billed as a Broken Rules Match, Matt and Jeff were officially competing against Darkstate’s Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin, however, given the No Disqualification rules, the match more resembled a four-on-two Handicap Match at points, with Cutler James and Saquon Shugars frequently getting involved.
Ultimately despite a valiant effort from The Hardys, it was the younger team who walked out of Halloween Havoc as champions once again, courtesy of a huge Doomsday Device through a table inside the ring.
After the loss Matt Hardy sent a message of thanks to the fans in attendance at the show, as well as commenting on their tribute to Bray Wyatt, which saw Jeff Hardy wearing face paint inspired by The Fiend.
Matt wrote:
Thank you for having our back tonight at @WWENXT #HalloweenHavoc, Arizona! You guys & gals were WONDERFUL!
We’re so sorry we weren’t able to retain the #WWENXT Tag Titles. The State of Dark swarm was relentless & never-ending tonight.
Our journey is nowhere near over, myself & Brother Nero have SO much left to do.
Very happy we could pay homage to Bray tonight – We love you & miss you, Windham.
The Hardys made their entrance to the ring under their “Broken” personas, along with the entrance theme that Matt used during his WWE spell as “Woken” Matt Hardy.
“Woken” Matt Hardy held the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships with Bray Wyatt in 2018, with the pair known as The Deleters of Worlds.
