Matt Hardy made his surprise return to the ring on SmackDown, teaming with brother Jeff Hardy for the first time in over a year. It was Matt’s first match since September having seemingly (briefly) retired due to injuries before declaring he was not done earlier in the year.
Matt recently said publicly that his contract was coming up for renewal and that he was “not afraid to live outside of WWE’s walls”. As has been the case with several members of the locker room who have contracts expiring shortly, he was brought back into the fold and given an immediate push.
You're not seeing things.

The Hardys defeated The Bar in a change from the originally advertised match of Cesaro vs. Johnny Gargano, which likely came about due to the recent DIY storyline taped at NXT last week.
The brothers wore matching black jeans similar to what they used to wear in their Attitude Era days but other than the odd ‘delete’ chant there was little of Matt’s ‘Broken’ persona on display.
