The Hardy Boyz have officially captured their first WWE championship titles in six years at tonight’s WWE NXT Showdown event.
The first-ever WWE NXT vs TNA Showdown event took place tonight, with four matches taking place pitting WWE NXT stars against TNA Wrestling stars.
One of those matches was a title for title match, pitting the NXT Tag Team Champions Dion Lennox and Osiris Griffin of DarkState against the TNA World Tag Team Champions Matt and Jeff Hardy.
The winning team would leave the show as both the NXT and TNA Tag Team Champions, and for the first time in the partnership between the promotions, WWE titles have now been captured by TNA wrestlers.
The Hardy Boyz would score the victory in the match, ending DarkState’s reign as champions, and winning their first WWE championship since 2019, where they became the SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
Matt and Jeff are set to defend the TNA World Tag Team Championship against the Dudley Boyz at TNA Bound For Glory this Sunday in a Tables match, being dubbed the ‘last real tag team match’.
