WWE
The latest on the Lucha Bros potentially reuniting in WWE following both signing with the company last year.
After leaving AEW at the end of 2024, Penta made his debut for WWE on the January 13 episode of Raw, defeating Chad Gable in his debut match.
Along with Penta, it was also reported that Rey Fenix was set to join WWE, which ended up happening in March of that year, with Fenix debuting on the SmackDown brand, while Penta remained on Raw.
The Lucha Bros Reuniting In WWE?
With Fenix and Penta on separate rosters, fans were wondering if or when we would see the pair finally come together as a duo in WWE.
Both Fenix and Penta have teamed with a number of different competitors in their WWE tenure, with Fenix teaming with Andrade prior to his WWE departure, and Penta recently teaming up with Dragon Lee and Rey Mysterio against the Vision on Raw.
However, both Fenix and Penta were in Puebla for tonight’s AAA Rey de Reyes event, where they opened up the show speaking to the live crowd.
During the promo, the pair teased that they would be reuniting in the promotion, with Penta teasing TripleMania as the event they would reunite, as well as AAA’s return to Puebla.
Rey Mysterio Replaced Penta In Lucha Bros Reunion
This isn’t the first time that a Lucha Bros reunion has been set for AAA, as the pair were initially set to team up for the first time in their WWE careers in AAA back in December.
The Lucha Bros reunion was announced, with them set to face off against Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano, but the match ultimately never ended up taking place.
Penta was pulled from the announced match after suffering an injury during his match with Solo Sikoa in John Cena’s Last Time Is Now Tournament, with WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio instead subbing in for him.
The History of the Lucha Bros
Fenix and Penta first begun teaming back in 2015, with them teaming in Mexico for AAA, PWG and various other independent promotions.
The pair rose to stardom as a duo in All Elite Wrestling, where they went on to have classic matches with the Young Bucks, defeating them in a Steel Cage match at AEW All Out 2021 to capture the AEW World Tag Team Championship in a match rated 5.75 stars in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Individually both men have found singles success outside of the team, most notably Penta recently capturing the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Dominik Mysterio.
