The North Sets Impressive Impact Wrestling Record

Impact Wrestling had a huge night on Saturday with their Slammiversary pay per view. While many new and returning stars showed up, one of the most important moments featured two of their very own. The North managed to defeat Ken Shamrock and Sami Callihan to retain the Impact Tag Team Championships.

Why is this so important? Well, this win ensured that Ethan Page and Josh Alexander would become the longest-reigning champions in Impact’s near two-decade history. The promotion put out a tweet today alerting us that they had accomplished the feat.

“Having passed @TheTayaValkyrie’s Knockouts Championship reign of 377 days, The North are now the longest reigning champions in IMPACT history.

Nobody has ever held any championship longer than they’ve been IMPACT World Tag Team Champions.”

That is a hell of an accomplishment. Page and Alexander have carried the Impact tag division for over a year now and they are certainly deserving of such an honour. With the return of the Motor City Machine Guns and the debut of the Good Brothers, it appears they will have a number of new teams to defend against.

While it may seem surprising that no champion has ever held a title for more than 377 days in Impact, it is worth remembering that for a long time they booked frequent title changes to try to pop ratings. However, under the new guard, that is no longer the case.
