The Revival Comment On Possible Heat With Young Bucks & Chris Jericho

During an interview with Chris Jericho, their first after leaving WWE, The Revival spoke about their true feelings on how WWE treats its tag team division, and also explained how they requested their release in January 2019, and were finally let go in April 2020.

Towards the end of the in-depth interview, Revival spoke about potentially having heat with former AEW World Champion Chris Jericho way back in 2014, and if there is any animosity between themselves and The Young Bucks.

For those that don’t know, The Young Bucks began starting a feud with The Revival several years ago on Being The Elite by using the FTR nickname. This meant “f*** The Revival”, but Dash and Dawson (now Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood), changed it to “Forever The Revival”.

During the interview, Revival said that they think the Young Bucks calling them out on BTE came from a place of “jealousy”. The duo explained that te Bucks saw the good work they were doing down in NXT and felt like their claim to being the best tag team in the world was under threat.

‘They [Young Bucks] didn’t come to us, they didn’t speak to us, it just came out of nowhere. And it took us aback a little back”.

Cash would go on to explain that he and Dax didn’t know if there was any real animosity from The Young Bucks towards them, adding that they still aren’t fully aware of the whole story:

“We didn’t know if there was real animosty there. We were just minding our own business, knocking out the park on every single live event, then all of a sudden there’s this rivlarly. We don’t know how serious it is, how heated it is, what the basis of it is, whether it was they were used to be the best tag team uncontested, but to this day we don’t know the full backstory to it”.

Speaking of The Revival having heat backstage with top AEW stars, the duo said that there was some confusion about them having heat with Chris Jericho back in 2014 for using the Shatter Machine. For those that don’t know, The Shatter Machine basically sees one of The Revival deliver a flapback to their opponent, who falls into a Codebreaker (Chris Jericho’s finisher).

The pair started using the move in 2014, while Jericho was on hiatus with WWE and not contracted to the company. When he returned, Dax and Cash asked NXT management if they should stop using the moving, and the higher-ups said it was fine to carry on as normal.

However, Jericho saw that the move on Twitter and accused the duo of stealing their moves. Cash responded with a joke about Marafuji actually using the move first, which apparently got them heat backstage within WWE.

Jericho would go on to explain that there is no heat on his hend, and it came off the back of someone else in NXT using one of his moves. Cash and Dax were given Jericho’s number and they reached out to make sure there was no bad blood.

When The Revival got called up to the main roster in 2017, they also asked Jericho face-to-face if there was any tension, which there was not. Jericho went on to explain that WWE breeds a “paranoid mentality”, before going on to say that such a thing wouldn’t happen in either AEW or NJPW.
