The Rock has had the opportunity to work with some pretty huge stars throughout his career. Whether it be John Cena, Hulk Hogan, or Steve Austin, he has mixed it up with the best. That being said, there is only one that he has called one of the greatest athletes of all time.
That one star is Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle. Ariel Helwani posted a video of Angle beating The Rock for the WWE Championship at No Mercy 2000. This lead to a response from the Great One where he called Angle one of the greatest athletes of all time. Here is the tweet:
Love this match! It was a brilliant build up and promotion. Honored to “do the honors” for Kurt. He’s one of the good guys AND one of the greatest athletes of all time. Rare combo. Didn’t know your wrestling roots go this far back, Ariel. We gotta talk 😉👊🏾

The Brahma Bull and Kurt Angle had a good rivalry during the Attitude Era. What began in 2000 lasted until February 2001 when The Rock regained the WWE Championship. From there they continued to wrestle throughout the Invasion and beyond until The Rock’s departure from WWE in 2004.
