It was reported earlier today that WWE and FOX were working on getting The Rock to appear on Friday Night Smackdown later on this week.
The debut show will not only see a WWE Championship match between Kofi Kingston and Brock Lesnar, but also appearances from several legends and Hall of Famers.
However, The Rock has confirmed on Twitter this evening that he will be appearing on the big show this week.
This will be The Rock’s first WWE appearance in years.
FINALLY…I come back home to my @WWE universe.
This FRIDAY NIGHT, I’ll return for our debut of SMACKDOWN!
LIVE on @FOXTV.
There’s no greater title than #thepeopleschamp.
And there’s no place like home.

This is a huge deal for WWE. The Rock has a tonne of mainstream fans who might just tune in to WWE Smackdown to see the People’s Champion talk.
