Triple H has revealed that it took a phone call from The Rock and plenty convincing to get a top WWE name to make an appearance at WrestleMania 40.
The main event of WrestleMania 40 Night Two between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes was among the most well-received matches in recent WWE history, with the abundance of cameos from past and present WWE stars adding to the spectacle and drama.
The mots suprising of all the names to show was WWE Hall of Famer The Undertaker, who appeared from the darkness to choke slam The Rock, who had himself only just delivered a Rock Bottom to John Cena.
Discussing The Undertaker’s appearance at WrestleMania during his appearance on The Roommates Show with Jalen Brunson & Josh Hart, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H revealed the challenge in getting The Deadman to appear:
“It took us forever to get him to do that thing. A lot of that stuff comes together in the tail end. When I first called him for it, he’s like, ‘I don’t know. I don’t think I want to do it.’ I’m like, ‘80,000 people are going to go absolutely insane.’
“It took us a little bit. Rock had to call him. Everybody had to call him to get him to finally acquiesce to do it.
“When he retired, he sort of wanted, ‘I’m just done.’ He didn’t come out with the hat and jacket. The hat and jacket are retired. ‘I’ll come out as me, but I’m not coming out as Undertaker.’ He just wanted it to be over.”
The appearance was Undertaker’s most recent on WWE TV, with his victim The Rock last showing up on WWE TV at the very end of the Bad Blood Premium Live Event.
It remains to be seen when we will see either Undertaker or Rock on TV at this time, but for the latest update on The Rock potentially appearing at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas follow this link here.
