The Undertaker Discusses ‘The Greatest Match Ever’

Last Sunday WWE put on the “Greatest Wrestling Match Ever” between Edge and Randy Orton. Now, we know they made quite an impression on The Undertaker.

The Deadman appeared on After The Bell with Corey Graves and he mentioned how he thought they told an unbelievable story. He also said he will be using the match in teaching sessions at the Performance Center. Here is the full quote, courtesy of Fightful:

“It almost brought a tear to my eye. I haven’t seen that kind of wrestling match in so long. I understand the parameters and everything else, that they had a lot of time, but my God, what a story they told. An unbelievable story. I sent Edge a text today saying, ‘The next time I go to the [Performance Center] to work with guys, I’m going to pull that tape up and show these guys and dissect it — not that it won’t be dissected 100 times by then — just the little nuances of what they did.

It restored so much faith in where I think the business should be and could be. That tape should be studied by our main roster guys. That is what professional wrestling is supposed to be. It’s great being as athletic as all these guys are, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t mean anything. When you rely solely on athleticism, you push the envelope to our audience and they are gonna get desensitized to the double backflip off the top and to the floor. It’s self-preservation. You have to work smart to make it last. The guys now are relying too much on athleticism and not enough on storytelling.”

Whether you think this was the Greatest Match Ever or not, they definitely have the support of the one and only Undertaker.
