The Undertaker Discusses What It’s Like To Break Kayfabe After 30 Years

For decades the most heavily protected character in WWE had been The Undertaker. You never saw him do interviews while he was the Deadman character but lately, things have changed.

The Undertaker had started doing more media but things really changed with The Last Ride docuseries chronicling his career on the WWE Network. Now, appearing on Hot Ones, he was asked about what it is like to break character after 30 years. Here is the quote:

“I’ve been in the wrestling business for over 30 years. It’ll be 30 years with WWE on the 22nd, but I’m a notoriously old school guy and talking about the business so openly, it’s still to this day like ‘ah should I?’ I’m fighting the urge to clam up and not talk about it and force myself to get in and tell stories and people are dying to hear this stuff. So, in that aspect it’s fun but the old school wrassler is like ‘man, you should just go back, pull the curtains shut and tell everybody you’re not home.’ But it’s been a mix of both.”

The Undertaker now claims to be retired. Only time will tell if that ends up being the case. His Final Farewell is set to take place this Sunday at Survivor Series.
