The Undertaker & Michelle McCool Comment On Tragic Death Of Shad Gaspard

Earlier this week, the wrestling world was shocked by the truly awful news that former WWE star Shad Gaspard had passed away after being caught in a riptide. In his last act on earth, Gaspard instructed lifeguards to save his son, an action which is said to have epitomised just how wonderful of a human being and father Shad was.

Very soon after his passing, and still even up to now, current and former WWE stars and figures from across the wrestling world have taken to social media to honor and pay their respects to Shad and share wonderful stories of interactions they had with him.

The Undertaker and his wife Michelle McCool have been doing a whole of interviews and media appearances in recent weeks to promote the exceptional Last Ride documentary series. In one of their more recent interviews, the pair were asked about Gaspard’s tragic passing.

Speaking to Mario Lopez, Michelle spoke about how special Shad was a human being, labeling him a “rare gem” that would always be smiling:

“He was one of the nicest guys. He was just one of those rare gems, that it doesn’t matter where he is or who he was with, he was always smiling. Everybody has something nice to say about him.”

The Undertaker then commented on the news, speaking about how wonderful of a father Shad was, and how this sums up just how awful of a year 2020 has been:

“When we talk about heroes and people that you look up to, just that last act of what he did, you know, just… what a great father and human being that he was. It’s just so sad, and it’s just another example — this year has been so bizarre.

“COVID-19 and everything else that’s happened, and something like that, you know… one minute you’re at the beach with your son, enjoying and having a great time, and then something catastrophic like that happens.

“It just… you hate seeing bad things happen, but you really hate seeing bad things happen to really good people like that. It’s just really not fair, and I just… we pray for his family and hope that they will be able to deal with this and move on, and remember what a wonderful man he was.”

Unfortunately, Shad is not the only wrestling figure to have tragically passed away this week. Long-time wrestling journalist Larry Csonka unfortunately passed away at the beginning of the week, while 22-year-old STARDOM wrestler Hana Kimura also tragically died last night.

Once again, WrestleTalk would like to extend our love to the families and friends of Shad Gaspard, Larry Csonka and Hana Kimura at this incredibly challenging and difficult time for them.
