Theory: Why NXT Aren’t Involved At WWE Survivor Series

Last night on Monday Night Raw, WWE announced several matches for the Survivor Series pay-per-view, and it looks like it’s going to be just Raw and SmackDown going head-to-head, with NXT seemingly missing out.

Just a few months after launching on the USA Network, NXT was included in last year’s Survivor Series event and convincingly won the whole night, picking up wins in four of the seven inter-brand matches on the show.

Nothing has been reported with regards to why the decision was made to not have NXT involved with the pay-per-view. However, some have speculated it could be for the same reason Raw Underground was reportedly scrapped.

According to reports, Raw Underground was scrapped because of the fact that it involved mixing of NXT and main roster talent. The initial report noted that the idea was to keep NXT talent away from main roster stars as much as possible.

While this is purely speculation at this stage and not an official report, it wouldn’t be too surprising to hear that WWE opted not to have NXT this year as a COVID precautionary measure because rosters would have to mix at the show and in the build.
