What a shame. What an absolutely tremendous disappointment.
A show that promised so much and delivered so little, and will be one that goes down in history as one of the most underwhelming WrestleManias ever.
I really try to be positive about wrestling, as a fan that’s sort of a given, but when I spend seven hours of my (not very precious) time watching an event that I had been looking forward to for months and months, and come away feeling as disappointed as I did; something is wrong.
Looking at the card, I saw three or four matches that I thought could absolutely steal the show. The rest of the card was also one of the best we have seen in a very long time.
But when you hear that the match that was given the most time was Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey vs. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, you have to start wondering exactly what went so wrong.
You will notice I haven’t covered the battle royals, and there’s a good reason for that. Naomi, a woman with zero momentum randomly won the women’s match, and as we all knew, Bray Wyatt returned to help Matt Hardy win the men’s. That’s all I have to say about that.
Now, I’m going to separate the good from the bad, because I am in no way suggesting that this show didn’t have some highlights. However, do not be surprised if the ‘positives’ list is a good deal shorter than the ‘negatives’.
