Here Are Three AEW Stars Whose Contracts Reportedly Expire Soon

With reports from sources within AEW that “many” contracts are expiring in the coming weeks, more details have emerged about which AEW stars may be joining Lio Rush in his free-agent status.

According to PWInsider, while inquiring about expiring contracts, three names continue to be brought up.

Marko Stunt who has not been spotted at AEW events as of late last competed in AEW in September 2021.  Stunt himself has teased a “resurrection” on his Twitter account, leading to speculation he could be appearing at GCW’s WRLD event Hammerstein Ballroom on January 23.

Brian Cage was mentioned as another contract expected to expire soon with Cage not seeing in-ring action since October but is reportedly regularly backstage.

Cage and his booking in AEW or lack thereof received attention last month after his wife, Melissa Santos spoke out but clarified her comments were coming from a passionate place in support of her husband.

Finally, as previously reported, Joey Janela has commented on his contract status and informed Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp that his contract expires May 2022 but has enjoyed his time working in AEW and is open to continuing the partnership.

Janela is confirmed for GCW’s WRLD event on January 23 scheduled to take on Matt Cardona with Chelsea Green. Elsewhere on the card, AEW star Ruby Soho will take on Allie Katch and Jon Moxley will defend the GCW World Championship against Homicide.
