On January 13, Thunder Rosa was scheduled to face Britt Baker at AEW New Year’s Smash Night Two, but she was pulled from the show and the match was rescheduled.
At the time, Dave Meltzer reported that Rosa has tested positive for COVID-19, and Rosa herself has now confirmed this report was accurate during a Q&A Session with Pro Wrestling Junkies.
“I traveled the whole pandemic. Unfortunately, I got COVID at the beginning of the year. I was able to go through it well and now I got my vaccine. I’m waiting to get the other one and I’m still being cautious.”
Rosa and Baker have faced each other twice since, with Baker winning at AEW Beach Break in February, and Rosa coming out on top in a brutal Lights Out match in the main event of AEW St. Patrick’s Day Slam on March 17.
Rosa is one of AEW’s top stars, and continues to have ties with the NWA while running her own promotion, Mission Pro Wrestling.
