There was a title change on tonight’s WWE SmackDown after a mid-match swerve and heel turn paved the way for the switch.
After a change to the originally announced match, the Street Profits were out and DIY were in for a shot at the Motor City Machine Guns for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
The change came as the Profits were victims to a mystery attack backstage.
In their entrance, the tension was palpable between DIY as Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano seemed to already be on different pages after their issues in recent weeks.
During the match, Ciampa was yelling at Gargano and their strife did not end there as he would aggressively tag Johnny in and order him to finish the job.
However, things changed at a point that Ciampa distracted the referee, and Gargano hit a low blow on Chris Sabin with a smirk on his face.
After taking out longtime friend Alex Shelley, Gargano would tag in Ciampa as they were ‘suddenly’ back on the same page, before Ciampa scored the pinfall victory.
DIY cemented themselves as having turned heels and becoming WWE Tag Team Champions for a second time.
After the match, they met with Gargano’s wife, and another established heel, Candice LeRae.
