A title change took place during today’s June 27 episode of WWE SmackDown in Riyadh ahead of Night of Champions.
Today was the first time SmackDown has taken place in Saudi Arabia, and despite a 30-minute delay due to a power outage in Riyadh, the show got back on track and saw a title change take place.
On today’s show, Giulia defeated Zelina Vega to become Women’s United States Champion.
Vega had held the title since she won it from Chelsea Green on April 25, with Green having been the inaugural champion since December.
Giulia only made her main roster debut in April after signing with the company last year and starting in NXT, where she had a reign as NXT Women’s Champion.
Tonight, she won her second title in WWE and her first on the main roster when she defeated Vega on SmackDown in Riyadh.
Giulia pinned Vega after landing her Northern Lights Bomb finishing move after two consecutive Arrivederci knee strikes.
Tonight’s SmackDown will also play host to Tiffany Stratton defending the WWE Women’s Championship against Nia Jax in a Last Woman Standing match, as well as the Wyatt Sicks challenging the Street Profits for the WWE Tag Team Championship.
