Taya Valkyrie has won the Impact Knockouts Championship at Impact Homecoming. Valkyrie defeated former champion Tessa Blanchard in a match where Gail Kim was the special referee.
Gail Kim played a distinct role in the match as Blanchard continued to get more and more agitated with Kim’s officiating. After Blanchard antagonized Kim one too many times, Kim hit Eat Defeat on Blanchard. This allowed Taya Valkyrie to hit Road to Valhalla, win the match and the Impact Knockouts Championship.

Tessa Blanchard had been Impact Knockouts Champion for 147 days. She won the title in Toronto by defeating former champion Su Yung and Allie in a three-way match. Blanchard had successfully defended the title against Su Yung and Faby Apache throughout her reign, as well as defeating Taya Valkyrie at Bound For Glory in October.
This is Valkyrie’s first championship reign with Impact Wrestling. Valkyrie was unsuccessful in challenging for the Impact Knockouts Championship at Bound For Glory and again on Impact the next week. This match at Impact Homecoming was her third attempt to win the title and finally he succeeded.
