WWE/TNA
A former WWE star’s departure from TNA Wrestling has been confirmed, with the ex-champion officially becoming a free-agent.
Per Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select, Rich Swann’s contract with TNA Wrestling has expired, and Swann is now a free agent.
It was noted that Swann signed a two-year contract extension in 2022, with his deal running out at the end of 2024.
Per this report, there was an additional option year on his contract which wasn’t picked up.
This ends Swann’s six year run with the company, with Swann signing with TNA in 2018 and going on to hold the X-Division, Digital Media and TNA World titles during his run with the company.
Swann last wrestled for TNA Wrestling on the August 29, 2024 IMPACT episode (tapes August 3), unsuccessfully challenging for the X-Division Championship.
Fightful notes that Swann voluntarily entered a rehab program shortly after this match, following a previous arrest.
Swann returned to the ring in October, and has been competing on the independent scene since then.
Many fans became familiar with Rich Swann through his 2015-2018 WWE stint, which saw him compete on NXT and Raw, and win the Cruiserweight Championship in November 2016.
