TNA Wrestling Shares Statement On Leon Slater Competing At WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event WWE

TNA Wrestling has addressed their X Division Champion, Leon Slater, competing at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The upcoming show will mark the final match in the WWE career of John Cena and feature exhibition matches between main roster and NXT stars.

Ahead of the December 13 show, WWE confirmed that TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater would team up with NXT’s Je’Von Evans to take on AJ Styles and Dragon Lee.

Already a familiar face to NXT fans following crossover appearances, Slater has encountered Styles previously, with the former X Division Champion returning to TNA Wrestling to praise his contemporary at Slammiversary.

TNA Wrestling has now addressed the upcoming in-ring meeting of AJ Styles and Leon Slater in a post on Twitter that reads:

HUGE announcement made during #WWERaw – @LEONSLATER_ and @WWEJeVonEvans will face @AJStylesOrg and @dragonlee95 THIS SATURDAY at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“The first ever X-Division Champion and the current X-Division Champion sharing the same ring! 🤯”

The social media message would be accompanied by a statement on the official TNA Wrestling website, noting the importance of the upcoming match, stating:

“Leon Slater & Je’Von Evans to Clash With AJ Styles & Dragon Lee at Saturday Night’s Main Event

“As announced on WWE RAW, TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater will join forces with Je’Von Evans to battle the WWE World Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee, this weekend at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“Earlier this year at Slammiversary, AJ Styles made his highly-anticipated return to TNA Wrestling and endorsed Leon Slater as the future of the X-Division. Now, they will stand across the ring from one another in this tag team dream match.”

Slater has previously revealed that he was ‘manifesting‘ a match between himself and Styles ahead of the latter’s WWE retirement.

With Styles seeking to retire next year, John Cena has recently provided an insight into the reasons behind the decision.
