TNA Wrestling ‘Livid’ After Unplanned Championship Incident

TNA Wrestling ‘Livid’ After Unplanned Championship Incident TNA Wrestling

The backstage reaction to PCO destroying a TNA Wrestling championship belt at The People vs. GCW on January 19 has been revealed.

Having won the Kick-Off Rumble at the Hammerstein Ballroom show, PCO took to the microphone, destroyed the TNA Wrestling Digital Media Championship and made his feelings known about the company.

Fightful Select has now revealed that, behind the scenes, TNA Wrestling was “livid” over what had transpired with some backstage sources believing PCO was “upset” that his contract was not being renewed.

With PCO set to finish up with TNA Wrestling at the next set of tapings in San Antonio on January 24, it was also noted that the star isn’t expected back for the Boeing Center event.

Sources would also confirm that the belt that PCO destroyed was a replica of the Digital Media Championship, with TNA Wrestling in possession of the real title.

The plan was for PCO to lose the Digital Media Championship at the upcoming tapings taking place on Thursday to wrap up his time with the company.

It was also noted that GCW initially thought it was “something that was part of a storyline” ahead of his upcoming match.

The decision to cut away from PCO, with a pretaped package playing in his place, was made when GCW realised that it wasn’t part of the story.

According to Fightful Select, PCO’s TNA Wrestling contract expired at the end of 2024.

PCO won the TNA Digital Media Championship at Slammiversary on July 20, 2024 beating A. J. Francis in a Montreal Street Fight match that also included the revived Canadian International Heavyweight Championship.

In October 2023, PCO was revealed as the first signing of the “new era” of TNA Wrestling, ahead of its rebrand from IMPACT Wrestling which took place in January 2024.
