Gisele Shaw has opened up about requesting her release from TNA Wrestling which was granted to her in September 2024.
Although Shaw wouldn’t hold gold in TNA Wrestling, she did challenge the then-Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace at No Surrender in February 2024.
Speaking on the Ring The Belle podcast, Shaw discussed wanting her departure to not be a “big thing” and what happened on the morning it was revealed, saying:
“I was very quiet with it and I didn’t want it to be like a thing. It got out there, I was literally just like having tea in the morning and then next thing you know, my phone’s like dinging and I’m like, ‘What’s happening?’
“People are reaching out to me and they’re like, ‘Hope you’re okay.’ I didn’t want it to be a big thing but you know, it is what it is.”
She would then explore wanting her release in more detail, revealing that she felt that her vision wasn’t aligned with TNA Wrestling’s creative direction for her, stating:
“You know what, things in wrestling change like we said and I feel like we weren’t really aligning or maybe like they didn’t really have creative wise — it felt like it went back to they don’t know what to do with me.
“I was like, man, I’ve been here for three years. I really, really, really tried to stick it out.
“Like I said, things in wrestling change all the time and sometimes — that was my route and it is what it is.”
On January 15, Shaw was backstage at AEW Dynamite at a show that also saw former TNA Wrestling President Scott D’Amore in attendance.
D’Amore is the current President of Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling with Shaw having competed there twice in October 2024.
The October 20 Maple Leaf Pro Forged in Excellence saw Shaw in a losing effort to Athena for the ROH Women’s World Championship.
Shaw faced Kylie Rae at Freelance Prelude on December 21 2024 but was unable to defeat the WWE ID Prospect for the Freelance World Championship.
