Following the NXT No Mercy event, TNA World Tag Team Champion Ace Austin has teased a WWE main roster championship challenge.
At NXT No Mercy, TNA X-Division Champion Zachary Wentz defeated his former MSK tag team partner Wes Lee to become the first TNA Wrestling star to win a match at a WWE PLE.
Later in the show, TNA’s Joe Hendry came up short against Ethan Page for the NXT Championship in the main event.
This was the latest in the ongoing WWE NXT and TNA Wrestling partnership that started with Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace appearing to challenge Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship at Battleground in June.
On September 4, TNA World Tag Team Champion Ace Austin took to social media to respond to WWE World Tag Team Champion Finn Balor’s post celebrating his reign with JD McDonagh hitting 72 days. He wrote:
Those are some gorgeous titles.
It remains to be seen if Austin or his ABC tag team partner Chris Bey will be part of the WWE NXT/TNA partnership at the time of this writing.
