TNT Title Match Set For AEW Dynamite New Year’s Smash AEW

A TNT Championship match has now been announced for the December 28 AEW Dynamite New Year’s Smash event.

On the December 16 edition of Rampage, it was announced that Samoa Joe will defend the gold against Wardlow.

During the show, Samoa Joe stated that he will not defend the TNT title in Texas, where the December 21 and December 23 AEW Holiday Bash episodes of Dynamite and Rampage will take place.

Joe won the gold at the November 19 Full Gear event, defeating Wardlow and Powerhouse Hobbs to become the TNT Champion.

He also currently holds the ROH TV Championship, after defeating Minoru Suzuki for the title on the April 13 edition of Dynamite.

A double champion, Samoa Joe calls himself the ‘King of Television’.

Joe most recently defended his ROH gold at the December 10 Final Battle pay-per-view. At the event, Joe defeated former NJPW star Juice Robinson to retain his title.
