Toni Storm Says ROH Contacted Her For Supercard Of Honor Prior To Tony Khan Buyout AEW

AEW star Toni Storm was released from WWE back on December 29, 2021, when she flew herself home following a WWE live event and requested her release.

Toni was subject to a 90-day non-compete clause following her release, in which time she admitted she didn’t know what was next for her.

Speaking to Renee Paquette on The Sessions, Toni revealed that she was originally contacted by Ring of Honor for the Supercard of Honor show, prior to the company being sold to Tony Khan.

She said:

“I was contacted to do Ring of Honor, WrestleMania weekend, before Tony Khan bought that. When I was contacted about that, the thought of me wrestling again, I was like, ‘Oh, hey, I’d like to do that.’ I got really excited again and I hadn’t felt that in a while. Something clicked. [I still love this], I do, of course I do. It’s the best job in the world. It shouldn’t be misery.”

Toni ended up debuting for AEW on the March 30 episode of AEW Dynamite, defeating The Bunny to qualify for the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

Speaking about her AEW debut, Toni said:

That was a trip, wasn’t it? I didn’t really have much notice, going into that, it was kind of a last minute thing. I had no idea what the future had for me. I didn’t know if I was going to get a job. I had no idea what was next. Then, I get a call last second, after my 90 days were up. ‘Yeah, okay, I’ll be there, see you soon.’ [laughs].”

Toni spoke about her WWE departure in the interview, and how she claims the company ‘didn’t give a sh*t’ about her.

Storm is currently 6-1 in her AEW career. You can see all win/loss records for AEW’s women’s division in 2022 so far here.
